What is Breema?

Breema is a modality of bodywork whose aim is to bring the practicioner to the present moment. The emphasis in the treatment is on the practicioner, and through the connection to his or her own body, the recipient receives exactly what is needed. The treatment gives me an opportunity to become more present and full in my own body.

Breema is also a non-judgmental and non-diagnostic method, that is, I'm not trying to fix any part of the recipient or really do anything consciously to help them. The underlying principle is that by doing the treatment for myself, and really making sure I am comfortable and present, the form and technique of this time-honored method automatically communicates with both recipient and practicioner to support each person's vital energy. Through that, each person gets exactly what they need... so if the recipient has a bad back, or stiff neck, or whatever, the body's innate wisdom will know how to use the increased energy and vitality to heal itself. When I try to do it consciously, I don't have a clue how!

So in these regards, it is a very strange and unique form of bodywork that has benefitted me tremendously - I can't get enough! As a technique, it has elements similar to shiatsu, Thai massage, acupressure, chiropractic, and other modalities, yet is its own unique method. Treatments are usually given with the recipient lying on a padded rug or mat. It is amazing how something so simple can be so profound!
